Pricing FAQ

Is the platform subscription required to use services?

Yes. Patentext Services are delivered through the Patentext platform, so a paid workspace is required while your application is active. Paid plans start at $2,700/year and are billed separately from the service fee. The workspace gives your team and the assigned patent agent one place to complete the invention record, develop the claim strategy, review the application draft, manage filing details, and track examination status.

Are USPTO filing fees included in Patentext's service prices?

No. USPTO filing fees are billed separately and are not included in Patentext Services' flat service fees. Patentext will communicate applicable fees before filing.

Who drafts the applications?

Patent applications are drafted by USPTO-registered patent agents using Patentext's AI-enabled workflow. AI helps organize context, generate structure, and accelerate drafting, but experienced patent professionals remain responsible for the quality and filing readiness of the application.

Is Patentext a law firm?

Patentext Services is a registered patent agency. Our services are performed by USPTO-registered patent agents and are focused on patent preparation, filing, and prosecution support before the USPTO.

Patentext does not provide legal advice outside the scope of patent-agent services, such as litigation, licensing, corporate legal work, or legal opinions that require an attorney, but we can refer you to the appropriate people.

Can we use Patentext with our existing outside counsel?

Yes. Patentext can support teams that already work with outside counsel. You can use the platform to capture, evaluate, and organize invention activity before sending work to counsel, or use Patentext Services for specific drafting and filing work alongside your existing IP team.

What happens if we already have invention disclosures?

Patentext can work with existing disclosures, invention notes, technical documents, diagrams, and other supporting materials. We help organize that information into structured invention context so it can be reviewed, drafted, and tracked more easily.

Can we start with one application?

Yes. Teams can start with a single application or filing need, then expand into a broader platform and services workflow as their patent pipeline grows.

What changes for larger teams?

Larger teams typically need more seats, more invention records, more workflow visibility, and more coordination across inventors, reviewers, leadership, and outside counsel. Paid and enterprise plans can support expanded access, stronger controls, and a more scalable patent pipeline.

How is invention data protected?

Patentext is built for confidential invention work. We use enterprise-grade security controls, encryption in transit and at rest, and strict data protection practices. Customer uploads, drafts, and outputs are not used to train AI models, and Patentext maintains Zero Data Retention policies with model providers.
